Les Lyons 1948 - 2007
20/02/2007

It is with very deep regret that London Irish Motor Club have to announce the sudden death of one of its founding members Les Lyons. Les passed away on Tuesday 20th February following injuries recieved in a fall at the weekend.

They say that “when somebody you know becomes a memory, the memories become a treasure",  well if that is true, then Les has left us with a never ending treasure trove.

A man whose life was never selfish, he extended his love and warmth far beyond his family, his kindness knew no measure, one of life’s very few gentlemen. We are proud that he was a stalwart of this club.

He was sometimes the joker, other times the butt of the joke, but no matter, it all ended in the same way “laughter, and lots of it”. We will remember him as a great friend, and lovable man, who gave us every thing and more. And I’m sure in heaven he will be no different, on the front row of the grid, willing to thrill us all, may god speed you Les.

To this end, we extend our sincere sympathy to all the Lyons family, his devoted wife Phil, sons Mark and Paul and to Les' brothers and sister.

Les, a true gentleman and friend
If tears could build a stairway,
And memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven,
And bring you home again.
